My Story

I have always been drawn to the power of story—the way we make meaning, navigate change, and connect through the narratives we hold.

I believe in the shelter of human connection—that we thrive in relationship and that healing happens when we are truly seen. In my practice, I integrate narrative therapy and relational approaches, helping clients explore the stories they carry, challenge what no longer serves them, and reauthor their lives with greater clarity and agency. I take a humanistic, person-centered approach with each client. I meet you where you're at with compassion and curiosity, and my goal is for you to feel safe, seen, and supported in our work together.

My professional journey began in journalism, where I had the privilege of listening deeply and holding space for others. Later, as a college writing instructor, I loved connecting with students at poignant parts of their lives and helping to reinforce how story shapes identity and understanding.

Over time, I realized my deepest fulfillment came from connection—being present with people one-on-one in ways that felt authentic, transformative, and healing. That realization led me to become a therapist. I consider it a deep privilege to do this work.

At Story & Solace Therapy, I hold space for those seeking meaning, steadiness, and growth. Your story matters, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Education

2024 to Present

Master's in Counseling --
Adams State University

I am currently completing the final year of my master's education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and will graduate in May 2026. As I continue to refine my approach and deepen my expertise, I work under the supervision of Tara Jackson, LPC, ensuring thoughtful, ethical, and well-supported clinical practice. I also serve clients in the Indian Health Service system at the Southern Ute Behavioral Health Unit in Ignacio, Colorado.

2010 - 2013

Master of Fine Arts,
Nonfiction Writing --

Kent State University / Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts Consortium Program

I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Nonfiction Writing, a degree that deepened my understanding of storytelling, meaning-making, and the ways narrative shapes our lives. Through teaching writing courses at Kent State University (Ohio) and Fort Lewis College (Colorado), I honed my ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity and compassion—skills that now shape my therapeutic work. My background in writing informs my approach, allowing me to guide clients in exploring, reauthoring, and making sense of their own unfolding stories.

2001 - 2004

Bachelor of Arts --

University of Colorado

With degrees in Geography, Environmental Science, and Writing, I bring an understanding of movement, change, and connection—both in the physical world and human experience. Studying geography and environmental science shaped my awareness of transitions, while writing deepened my appreciation for storytelling as a tool for meaning-making. In therapy, I integrate these perspectives to help clients explore their narratives, relationships, and life shifts with clarity and purpose.
